Feast on a smorgasbord of science throughout Ultimo from 16 to 28 August 2011. The Ultimo Science Festival offers day and night events, school sessions, family & kids events and talks for everyone. It's not just for geeks, scientists and students (though they'll be there...) it's for everybody!

The Ultimo Science Festival offers an amazing range of things to hear, see and do in National Science Week, along Harris St in Ultimo, 5 minutes walk from Sydney's Central Railway and many events are free.

The Ultimo Science Festival is supported by the Australian Government and the City of Sydney. It's an important event in the National Science Week calendar.

Speed Meet a Geek
A rare chance to chat face-to-face with a whole bunch of research scientists at the ABC Cafe. Astronomers, physicists, biologists, mathematicians, environmental scientist sand many more.
For adults and children of high-school age (no under 12s sorry).
When: Saturday 27 August: 1pm -3pm

Forensics Lab Tour
Fingerprints, illicit drugs, DNA profiling, fire investigation, trace evidence, investigation of human remains and crime scene investigation are just a few of the research areas of UTS Science's forensics unit. Get a sneak peek into the world of UTS Forensics by joining this tour of our state-of-the-art laboratories.
When: Saturday 27 August; Tours run on the hour from 10.30am to 3.30pm, with the last tour departing at 3.30pm. 10.30am, 11.30am, 12.30pm, 1.30pm, 2.30pm and 3.30pm
Where: UTS City Campus, Science Info Desk, Building 4, Level 1.
Tickets: FREE but limited places. Tickets available at the UTS Science booth from 9am on Sat 27 Aug. Pick up your ticket early or you might miss out.
The Science of Coffee
An excellent way to start your Saturday - sample delicious coffee and learn about the science behind making great coffee at home.
There are major points in the processing of coffee which have a direct impact on how coffee can taste in the cup. We will take you on a journey from growing the bean to drinking the finished product... come and see all the barista's secrets exposed!
The only walk you'll need to take to get your morning coffee will be into your own kitchen!
Coffee and snacks included in the ticket price.
